If it's called comfort-eating, why aren't I feeling better? emoticon

Work is a mess, my in-laws are arriving in a few days, the kid's life is crazy busy - so our house is full of stress. I find myself consciously striving for calmness while the kid is awake, and once she's in bed, seeking solace in late night snacks. I'm measuring into a bowl to try to contain the madness, but it's not good....

Bemused, so sorry to hear of the stress in the house! You have been so busy working late into the night, hosting parties for teenagers, and getting ready for your in-laws' visit. That would certainly send me to the fridge for a beer (or three), which I would guzzle while saying, "To heck with it all."

You are *measuring* your snacks into a bowl?! That is totally not comparable to what I do in similar situations, which is to throw caution to the wind and NOT measure into bowls.

Don't worry! This will all be over soon! In the meantime, I hope you can find moments of calmness throughout your day. Hang in there, friend. You will come through.

Do you have anything in the house you can use, instead of snacks, to work off the stress? exercise bicycle, etc? I got a mini-trampoline and after 10 minutes of jogging on that thing, I'm sweaty and calm. It was a very good investment.. Sometimes I hit it several times a day, at only 5 minutes, and it is helpful.

I'm sorry! I too have been overwhelmed. Just taking it hour by hour instead of day by day! We'll survive!!
