I am liking the low carb high fat way of eating and I am seeing changes

Day 43
Walked 2.41 Miles / 3.88 Kilometers Pedometer wasn't right. My husband wore it and it said .87 mile and 1841 steps. We walk the same route nightly.
52 minutes 298 calories burned

Blood glucose 222 this morning. This diet of low carb high fat is working and the best thing is, I am not hungry. I am full at about 600 calories. I don't try to add on to them. I have begun adding fat like heavy whipping cream to my coffee and extra virgin olive oil to my salad.

The reading on the scale is dropping and I will wait and see what it is when I go back to the doctor.

Hubby is doing the exercise, but he is not following the diet. On the site, the doctor said in a video that you cannot eat this way part of the time, and then eat things not allowed, or the diet won't work.

I found out yesterday that Coffee-mate has corn syrup in it and while I didn't want to use skim milk in my coffee due to milk sugars, I wasn't helping myself. They tell you to use heavy cream up to two tablespoons a day.

I have been overweight since my Dad died when I was 20. I have tried diets and could lose weight. When I left my first husband, I ate round steak and cottage cheese. I would have a chicken salad sandwich on 1 slice of bread, an orange and carrot and celery sticks. I lost 40 lbs, because I walked/ran 5 miles daily. I ate the same thing over and over.

My biggest problem with all the diets I have ever tried was that I never felt satiated (full). I have been eating grilled chicken and lettuce, scrambled eggs, tomatoes and a salad blend that has Iceberg Lettuce, Carrots, Romaine Lettuce, Pea Pods, Red Cabbage, and Radishes. I can't have the carrots, so I pull them out.

The chicken is from the fajitas at the party. My husband has been finishing off the Chinese food and he ate a container of pumpkin fudge and all of the doughnuts. We have so much junk in the house, but I have known that for a long time. I am thinking about having to take a shot of day when faced with temptation. My shot that I take weekly stings as the medicine is injected.

I am very pleased with this new way of eating, The dread that was on my blog when I asked God to help me has turned into anticipation of the next doctor's visit and I am hoping, into a lifestyle change for me. You eat fat to lose fat. That goes against what the medical community is telling people and they medicate them for all sorts of ailments.

I want to be free of pills/supplements and needles. I told the doctor when I run out of fluid pills, I am done using them, there is a diuretic in my blood pressure pill and I was prescribed an extra fluid pill to take. I will quit glucosamine chondroitin too.

We do have something more in common. I began to gain weight when my mom died. Then again when my dad died and my husband died. Grief. It can overwhelm.

Yeah, I think you're right. The pedometer's probably broken.
If you're not already on a multivitamin, it's something to think about.
(I do a daily Flinststones Complete, b/c I can't handle the in iron anything else I've tried.)
If you have any concerns about getting all the vitamins/nutrients you need,
    it's something else to consider.
Again, from what you've said, it looks like your numbers are moving in a good direction. I doubt your doc will recommend taking you off the meds just yet, but she can't exactly force you to take anything.
If you're worried about hypoglycemia, just keep something with high carb/sugar around. Most diabetics I know keep orange juice or mini-candy bars in the house just for that reason.
So yeah, if you get dizzy/shaky/heart racing/anxious sweating/ etc. check your blood sugar to see if it's below 70. (If it's below 70, just eat something with carbs/sugar to get it up.) But I think you're pretty far from that, even with the medication. Still, you're right to be aware of the issue.
    Keep up the great work!

I am so happy that your spirit is up and that you are focused. Don't forget your veggies! They are so important. I am glad you are on a plan to eat healthier - and that you are walking more.
I was relieved to hear that you are asking the doctor if you can stop the shot before you do. I wonder if it is helping to drop your numbers now that you are eating differently. I agree with you to stop it ASAP, especially being linked to cancer.
Also: I think you should take your "diet" back to your doctor next time for review, just to make sure you are not missing anything.

ELYSIAN_DREAMS I have one pedometer. My husband wore it yesterday while we walked. We had to put a new battery in it when we started walking again, it is probably broken.

I may call the doctor's office to quit the shots. Since my blood glucose is going down and I take a shot a week, I fear the shot may throw me into a low blood glucose. I have never had one and I don't want to have one. The effects of the shot last a week so I am thinking if I had one, I might have more than one until the effects of the shot wore off.

    9/18/15 before bed 453
    9/19/15 before breakfast 323
    9/20/15 before breakfast 408
9/22/15 before breakfast 347 found out about Reversing Diabetes group
    9/23/15 before breakfast 301
    9/24/15 before breakfast 222

I hope and pray that I can make the changes to get my blood glucose down. My Trulicity shot stings when the medicine is injected. I will have to take a daily shot of insulin if I have to go on that. Those of you that pray, pray for me. The Trulicity shot causes slowness of elimination, so the food remains in the digestive system.

I have hope again. There were times when I felt like giving up. I have written about my problems on Metformin with bowel incontinence. To be free of these problems would be such a great blessing. I still get bouts of cramping and diarrhea on the shots.

My Trulicity shot has not been tested. I was told by my doctor that it could cause cancer. So I am trying to treat my diabetes with a cancer-causing medicine. The Reversing Diabetes group are people with diabetes that have been able to go off of their pills and lower their insulin dosages by eating high fat low carb. There are foods that you don't eat-fruit, milk grains, most beans, but it works. I was told I needed to up my fats which will up my calories. I just don't have what I need here to do that.

The endocrinology class I took said I could eat what I wanted so long as I kept within the range of 45g carbs per meal and two 15g carb snacks. If I wanted to eat pie, candy and ice cream, I could so long as it was within those ranges, it was fine. If I had high blood glucose, what would eating like that do?

My daily goal is 20 carbs or less and I feel fine. I feel full for the first time without gorging on food!

Blood sugar of 222? It sounds like you're moving in the right direction! Pretty soon, that sugar's gonna be back on one-der-land. :-)
I'm glad you're getting comfortable with the low-carb diet, and still going for the walks! Yay walks! (The pedometer thing seems strange. My husband probably takes one step for every two that I take, but even that wouldn't explain those pedometer readings. So, yeah, could be broken. Maybe trade pedometers tomorrow. See if they're giving you individually similar readings, your readings just aren't matching.)
I think you're doing great! Keep it up!
We're all very proud of you!

I use to use Coffee-mate all the time. I loved the stuff. Now that it has no-no's in the ingredients, it is off my list of goodies. Thanx for the info!

And nails will become brittle because of a lack of nutrients. This type of extreme dieting has hurt so many people.

The medical community doesn't say that. It's all that bad fat that clogs arteries. You can still lose weight with high fat foods at only 600 calories because the body is starving. Eventually it will damage your metabolism, your hair will fall out
