It's 2:30 am and I need to be awake for at least another hour. I'm waiting for visitors - the kid is on her school's varsity soccer team, and the seniors are "kidnapping" the younger teammates at ~3:30 am for hijinks and whatever. The instructions to the parents are to a) unlock the front door and b) leave instructions on where to find our kid's bedroom. There is no way in heck that a worrier like myself can possibly sleep with the front door unlocked, so instead I have a sign on our door asking the seniors to knock, and I will let them in and direct them to our kid's bedroom.
Tonight the kid's team battled the team from the next city to a scoreless tie. It was a very physical game and I'm glad no one was hurt. She has another game on Monday, then another one on Wednesday, then another one three days later ... and 2 hour practices on the days in between. Poor kid is even more tired than I am. She was up until a few minutes ago working on homework. If she's lucky she'll sleep for an hour before being rudely woken up for her "kidnapping."
eta: It's almost 5 am and I'm still waiting. Crazy kids.
eta2: 5:15 am and they finally came. I. am. whacked. Crazy kids.
