Goofing off

Saturday, October 10, 2015

The kid's soccer game today has been canceled - the opponents don't have enough healthy players to field a team. So the kid and I stayed up late last night. She found a show called "Worst Cooks in America" on Netflix, which had us in stitches. I'm not a very good cook, but even I know to take the lid off a food processor in order to empty it, instead of picking the whole thing up, turning it upside down, and trying to shake everything out of the narrow feed tube! And when I laugh, the kid laughs, and vice versa, so sometimes once the big laughs start, they don't stop until our stomachs hurt.

It was such a late night that we let her sleep in this morning, and the hub and I went on a "date" to Costco. Afterward, I topped up on perishables at our local grocery, and now our house is well-stocked again. Fresh salmon for dinner, a fridge full of fresh veggies and fruit, and more rotisserie chicken ready to be de-boned for work lunches. Woo hoo! I know my life is lame, but the routine of spending part of the weekend getting ready for the week ahead is very satisfying for me.

I wouldn't call your life lame. I'd call it consistent, which is comforting and secure. I look forward to being at that point one day.

I'm with you, Bemused. Continuing with yesterday's theme, "lame" is best. IIt' just so peaceful. I love your description of just hanging out with your daughter and laughing at the antics of silly cooks. Can't think of anything more fun (except for a few other rollicking adventures you've written about enjoying with your daughter, such as laughing at your arm skin blowing in the wind). You two have what sounds like such a fun relationship!

And yes, it really does feel good to get organized and prepared. I need to do that, too. Monday will be here all too soon.

How cool is that, having fun and goofing around with your teen daughter. Love it. I also find it very satisfying to prepare on the weekend for the coming week. It helps me stay on track and I like that. Don't care if it is boring to others. This is something I LIKE to do. :)
