38 days logging! Graduated to Stage 3 of SparkCoach

Today is a good day. I am in the habit of logging in, first thing in the morning, with a cup of coffee to do my food plan, update the previous days food tracking and do the Sparkcoach.

I am starting Day 3 of NOPE- not one puff ever. I decided to go with the Nicotine Patches. Last year I tried Chantix, and got 6 months in and lost it.

I know now that HABITS are the one thing that has to change before any changes become permanent.

Over the past month I realized that most of the recipes have too much sodium in them. I am allowed 1500 mg per day, as I have had a heart attack. I am determined not to have another one. So at least 5 days a week I do a recipe makeover.

I do things to keep it simple. I have my groceries delivered. That way I don't get tempted to buy things that I really don't want. Of course, I don't get the exercise, but it is a small trade off.
I do buy Schwans vegetables. My freezer is my friend. I am retired and on a fixed budget. I buy most of my meat from Zaycon, bring it home and package into smaller portions, and freeze it. I recently bought a Foodsaver, so I don't get freezer burn. I also subscribe to Bountiful Baskets. Every other week I get a basket comprised of 50% fruit and 50% vegetables for $12.50. This weeks Bounty was onions, potatoes, cauliflower, green peppers,green beens,limes, romaine lettuce,tomatoes, plums, bananas. I also buy their organic bread, 5 loaves for $10 which is a considerable savings over the $4.50 I pay retail for a loaf of whole wheat bread. Prior baskets have included things that I have never tried and were actually very good like Daikon Radishes, eggplant and mangos.

So I am eating a large variety of food foods. I have reduced my protein intake, for which my kidneys are grateful. I have been cooking white beans, pinto beans and other legumes from scratch ( no sodium), and freezing them. GO FREEZER!!

Now that I am working my food plan, and my NOPE plan, and they are on semi-automatic, I am working on my FUNCTIONAL FITNESS. I used to love to dance. We went to an OKTOBERFEST dinner at the community center last nite. The music was wonderful, all sorts of Polkas and Waltzes. I felt bad that I couldn't get up there and shake it. Next year I will be!

I recently joined the Walk off The Pounds group. I have a DVD and am ready to start. I also have some line dancing DVD's and when I get to the point I can do those, I will start going to Line dances. One day at a time, I will get there.
