It Is Well

ROARRR!!!!! Yes, that is me roaring with pride! I did it, I really did it! I completed my very first charity run, granted it was only a 3K, but it is 3Ks more than I could do six months ago. Not only that, I stepped out of my comfort zone and participated in an event with real athletes. I was not the last to cross the finish line, though it would not have mattered if I had been. I actually completed in my best time 30:13, even passed younger, stronger runners that had started out way too quickly and had to stop.
Words are just not sufficient enough to express my feelings when I completed that race, but the best part was that I did this with my amazing husband who never had any intention of letting me cross that finish line last, my beautiful daughters to cheer me on and my amazing ministry team who gave up their precious Sunday time to run and celebrate my 50th birthday. One of our team members lost her mother to tuberculosis last night. She still came to be with us and to cheer us on. This race was a first for all of us and as each of us crossed that finish line we saluted Julie and knew she was cheering us on from Heaven. It was a bittersweet morning for our team, celebrating for one and mourning for another and Julie's final words to her friends and family deeply resonated with all of us..."It is well."
