Day 325 - Put a Little Spring in your Step

You know when you're feeling really good, you have a little bounce in your walk? I watched one of our pastor's daughters at the end of worship on Sunday, and she was bouncing so much that her hair was swinging back and forth like a carnival ride! She just turned 16, and is one of the happiest people I've ever met.

How about putting a little spring in your step even if you're not feeling 100%? You know what happens? You start to feel better! It's hard not to feel great when you're bouncing to the beat of your own drum, jamming to the music in your soul.

One of my recurring themes in blogs is positive thinking, because I'm a HUGE believer that there's immense power in it. I can't take credit for the expression (thanks, Dr. Peale), but I certainly can echo the sentiment!

In addition to positive thinking, there's also positive behavior. Smiling, laughing, walking with purpose (and bounce!), hugging a friend are all perfect examples of behaving positively. Sometimes it takes a bit of effort, but you know what? The effort is worth the result, and the result is worth the effort.

I think that's the Spark in SparkPeople - that positive energy, thinking, and behavior that encourages good for ourselves, for each other, and for the community, I get so much of it from each of you, that I can't help but want to give it back.

    I smile at my own sweet self in the mirror. emoticon Can't help but cheer me up..especially on my 'cute Bobbii days'...ha...ha!

    Life can be hard...a little smile and an eye wink can make someone's ENTIRE day!

    If I have a difficult customer I know that it always defuses the situation if I use a little humor. As you get older...you truly realize that people are just doing their best to get by.

    A little compassion and some positivity makes all the difference in some people's day.

    I agree!! When I was at my daughter's concert the other night, the conductor stepped down so this young lady in the band could conduct the last piece. She's a senior who plans to study music and has already been accepted at her school of choice. It was such a pleasure to watch her and see her literally "bounce" off the stage when she was done. She just exuded happiness!
    Even if you're in a bad mood, just keeping your head up and putting a little spring in your step can make all the difference!

    I LOVE this. This is how I was raised. Stop complaining, get up and get going!! I sometimes don't understand the whining about having a cold, or some minor affliction..stop dwelling on the negative! Buck up, put a spring in your step and smile.

    It's a fact if you behave in a positive way, even if your aren't "feelin it" you still get a positive response from your body! It's that mind-body connection! You smile and your body physically responds to happiness! It actually releases endorphins! It even helps strengthen your immune system! But remember, it works the other way, too! You pout and your body thinks it's unhappy! Wow! It's truly in your power!!!
    And, smiling is contagious...it elicits the same response in others...true...spread the joy! What have ya got to lose?
