Day 331 - Jordan Smith on The Voice
Tuesday, October 27, 2015
Sometimes, inspiration comes from unexpected places. Jordan Smith is a contestant on the voice. He's so gender-neutral that coach Adam Levine would only refer to him as "a person." His voice is astonishing, and he talks a lot about having had self-esteem issues because of his size and appearance. But when he sings, OMG!
You can read more about him here:
He sang "Chandelier" by Sia for his blind audition. Be sure to listen to it on the website, and then listen to his story after the audition. The confidence he exhibits is fantastic: "what makes me different, makes me special." And what Adam says to him at the end is so moving. The video cuts off too early, but the hug that Adam gives Jordan after he is selected as Jordan's coach is awesome.
Tonight he sang Adele's hit "Set Fire to the Rain" and it absolutely blew me away. You can listen to it here:
He brings new meaning to the song.
Every once in a while, a performer will capture my heart. That has happened this fall with this incredible young man.
I hope that you find something that inspires you in the next day or so. Let it fill your heart with so much emotion that you want to share it with the world.
And then, share it.
