Not this old dog

I understand I am supposed to be able to learn new tricks. So why am I going to have to stay up to the wee hours again to prepare a presentation that I should have taken care of days ago? It's as if I have a small part of my brain calculating the minimum amount of time I need to barely complete a project, and then figures out what is the latest time I can start said project without actually falling apart due to sleep deprivation. Maybe instead of a reptilian core, my brain has a zombie core....

I seem to do the same, more often than I care to admit.

I was thinking just yesterday that actually procrastination might be the most effective use of time. Because there's a part of you calculating the minimum amount of time you need to barely complete a project, that might be your way of saving time! Concentrated effort is the most efficient, I think. I do the same thing. These days, I always wait until just a couple of hours before I'm going off to teach to decide what I'm going to do. I've discovered that this works very well for another reason: my memory is bad now, so preparing so close to performance time makes me more likely to remember everything I need to.

I just hope you can avoid the sleep deprivation headaches you had recently. Take care, Bemused!

I too find myself putting things off until the last possible minute. I am working on not procrastinating and developing a positive way to stay on task. Haven't figured out the best approach, but am trying different strategies. Hope you find something that works for you. emoticon

There are fewer interruptions, and it is just so peaceful...
