Day 334 - Blast from the Past

Friday, October 30, 2015

Today was our campus Halloween bash. I am not a fan of Halloween, but I still managed to have fun today, especially watching all the tykes from the Childcare Center (where our Early Childhood Education students get on-the-job training) come over for their treats and showing off their costumes. They were all adorable!

The theme for the party was "Blast from the Past" - and different teams had different decades or time periods to represent. The office staff got the 1920s. I was supposed to be a gangster, and all the women were my flapper dolls.

My costume came out ok, although I was swimming in the suit, even after making it double-breasted. I trimmed off my beard except for a small mustache, and then borrowed an eyebrow pencil to create the Clark Gable look. Here's my mug shot...

I won best 1920's costume, but gave credit to my financial aid tech Sandra, who found the suit at a garage sale in her neighborhood!

We took mug shots of everyone and posted them on a "most wanted" wall. Everyone really enjoyed themselves, and it was fun to get out of the normal work routine for a little while. (Although I ended up working until 6:30 to get caught up on all my projects for the day, but who's counting?)

Tomorrow Annette and I are driving to Williams to the Colusa County Campus for an all-day meeting. I'm hoping to have some time with my operations specialist to check in on the campus before the meetings start. At least Annette and I will have some quality time to talk during the hour-drive down the mountain.

For those of you who enjoy and celebrate Halloween - have fun but be safe! For you who, like me, couldn't be bothered.... have fun and be safe! There are lots of temptations between now and the New Year. Do you have the willpower to maintain control? Have a taste, if you must, but don't eat pounds of candy. Remember that a moment on the lips means a lifetime on the hips! Do you really want to eat that - and is it worth gaining two pounds for a second of pleasure?

Stay focused, friends! You've got this!

Keep Sparking - and keep being awesome!

Love the look, definitely a winner in my book!

I can imagine how excited the the youngsters from the Childcare Center were to show off their costumes. And of course to get treats.

Sorry you have an all-day meeting tomorrow, but it sounds as if it will be productive.

Be safe and get some down-time on Sunday.

I LOVE that photo. Looks like a mug shot, because you don't have your usual grin on your face. Arrested for having too much fun, and you aren't smiling. I see some irony in that!!

I am so glad you got into the spirit of the thing, anyway. Plus you had a HUGE NSV!! Having to make a coat into a "double breasted" one because you are so SLIM is magnificent!!!

Have a good drive with Annette today, and enjoy the weekend. The house must really be shaping up. Isn't it fun to watch the progress?

Thanks for all you do, ALL your insightful comments, and tips on maintenance. I'll get there within a month. Should be AWESOME!!!

    Thanks my friend.

    SPARK ON!

I don't do Halloween other then to pass out treats to the children who come to our door.
I worked once in a place where they wanted everyone to dress up so that the workers could bring their children in to "Trick or Treat" us. There was one man there who was known to start his costume a few weeks early and he wore some pretty impressive fangs on his teeth. I don't know how he could talk with the fangs, but he could. It was a good thing because we sold insurance over the internet and our job was all talking. On the day of the "party", he surprised everyone by dressing as Santa Claus! He was the most popular stop for each child. :)

No temptation for candy over here! Now if they were passing out oatmeal raisin cookies, that might be a whole different ballgame! To deal with! ;0)

    OMG...LOVE THAT PICTURE!!!!!
I can't believe the difference in how you look! Sounds like a fun day and nice diversion! Enjoy your meeting day at the other location tomorrow!
I try to remember that there's only four days/times during this holiday season/end of year, and I can do that! No candy...better not to even start! I will indulge in a Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas dinner...enjoy it all in moderation and then end with New Years eve, which is really easy and m
    Yep, we got this!
