Steps and Active Minutes/FitBit Makes Me Cranky Today

Monday, November 09, 2015

Don't get me wrong, I love my FitBit Charge HR but the way it tracks just kind of bums me out some days. Like, how can a person get in 16,000+ steps but ZERO fitness minutes?!?!

I know I'm exhausted at the end of my day.
I know a high percentage of those steps are made with haste...I'm definitely NOT an ambler!
I know the fact that I'm obviously not being sedentary is a really good thing too.

But for tracking purposes, seeing that goose egg is a total bummer.
And many days it's way many more steps than 16,000 and by the time I get home have nothing left in the tank to put towards cardio minutes.

I think it's trying to compensate for being worn on a wrist. I know a lot of my steps are due to hand movements. I can't count the number of times I've gotten my 12,000 step buzz as I was opening a pill bottle or smoothing down a blister card.

I think it's trying to count number of steps in a row. You have to move continuously for it to count as an active minute. The same with inclines - don't stop on the way up or none of it will count as climbing stairs.

I know what you mean though. It does suck to have 10s of thousands of steps but no active minutes.

Sounds like it may be a glitch - have you Googled to see if other people have the same issue? I don't have one, so I'm really not sure.

I know how you feel. My fitbit flex is the same way. not sure why it tracks the way they do. I know i put in 60+ minutes a day in active minutes but some days it only counts 0-59. It might have to do with the bluetooth being on. I found that if it is not on all day then at night I have no active minutes when i sync it. But running the blluetooth a day drains my battery. Hope that helps.
