Okay, something has to change! I am getting lots of walking in even though it is tough to even get to 8,000 steps in a day, but I am challenging myself to do it. Two months ago it was hard to get 4,000 steps a day, so there is definite improvement. I joined a new Spark Group last night and deleted a bunch of groups that were either inactive or I never went to them the last few times I was on this journey.
I looked into my my lunch and realized that there is not much fruit and no vegetables in there. Maybe I could buy a small bag of baby carrots on the weekend, wash them and package them up in snack sized ziplock bags for the week. When I get sick of carrots I could have cucumbers or something. Keep it interesting, but make that my side dish instead of chips or crackers.
I've been doing better with breakfast. I need to thaw out more muffins that I made in summer. Those are for the days I drive 32 miles to work. On the days I walk to work I make "Overnight Oats." It is delicious and full of nutritious food, but I added up the calories on Spark People and it is high in calories but keeps me full all morning, so I guess it is a trade off.
So, good breakfasts, need to make one big change in lunch, suppers vary from very healthy to not so healthy, but I think we are very contientious to what we are cooking each night. Snacks also vary. We tend to eat the healthy stuff and don't want to eat the junk, so the junk sits around. Hmm...maybe we should buy single servings of the junk and not have extra laying around???
I had been taking awesome walks with my Dachshund, Pixie. However, with the days getting shorter and I get home after dark, we can't really take a walk. So, we play a lot inside: fetch, tug of war, get the toy, lazer pointer and good old rough housing.
Well, I will let you know how it goes!
