Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." Hebrews 13:5
Most of the time I am happy with what I have. After all I have a house that more than meets our needs even though it is not large It keeps us sheltered. I always have food on the table. I have a good family and friends. I am very thankful to God for providing.
But, it seem at this time of year I'm always wishing I had money for one thing or another. Some seem like they are good, like donations for charities, gifts for family and friends. Some are maybe not so good, I want that gadget to add to the other gadgets I don't use, a new book, more clothes, etc., etc., etc.
The reality is God has given me more than I need. I could give time to charities, or unused items to others who are needy. I could go to the library for that book I want to read. And I can make a gifts for family and friend, knit, crochet, bake, a phone call or a visit. There are many thing I can do that do not require money.
Prayer: Father, thank you for your promise to never leave or forsake me. Thank you for all you have provided. Teach me to be content with what you provide and teach me to be generous to others with what you provide. In Jesus name, amen.
