You know you've adopted good habits when...

I decided that I was going to have a "eat whatever I want" day on Friday. I wanted some fish so I went to a Chinese restaurant and bought me a fish dinner which included French fries. Now I must tell you that I never go to this restaurant to get food without leaving with 3 or 4 Almond cookies in hand. As I was standing there waiting for my food, a thought came to me to order those Almond cookies. Without a second thought, I decided against it because I was already having fried fish and fries and I just didn't want to go too overboard with my unhealthy food choices.
On the way home, I stopped at a gas station and as I was standing in line, another thought came to me to buy a Little Debbie's chocolate fudge brownie. Now I must admit, when I have a "eat whatever I want" day, I almost always go and buy one or two Little Debbie's snacks because I want to satisfy my sweet cravings and also to keep myself from feeling deprived. This time was different, when that thought came to my mind to buy the snack cakes, I immediately thought about how I felt afterward after I would eat them. I never felt guilty for eating them but crappy from what's in them so of course I was able to once again walk out of the store without buying them.
When I went to Walmart the next day, I was able to purchase my items and leave out that store without being the least bit tempted to buy me a king size Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. It was at that time that I realized that I had now formed some good habits. Even though I don't plan on having a "eat whatever I want" day too often, it still feels good to know that I can have some foods that are not the healthiest in moderate WHEN I want to and I feel even better knowing that I can go to a store and not struggle within myself not to buy that snack cake or chocolate candy bar WHEN I go through that checkout line.
I even find that WHEN I'm sitting around the house, I actually crave water instead of diet sodas and I stop eating WHEN I'm full instead of feeling a need to eat everything on my plate. I'm exciting about this healthy lifestyle journey because my WHEN's keep forming each day.
What are your WHEN's that you've formed on your journey?
