Day 364 - November Gratitude, part 28

Sunday, November 29, 2015

My parents arrived around 2:30pm, later than I expected, but glad that they have things to do at their home to keep them busy and active! We took them on a tour of the area where the Valley Fire had burned, then stopped at an art exhibit suggested by our friend Robert. My dad, who never meets a stranger, immediately struck up a conversation with the artist. It was entertaining all of us to watch.

We ended the evening back at our house, with Robert joining us for dinner. More lively conversation and shared stories ensued.

I'm so grateful for the holidays and the way they tend to bring people together, through a shared history or a new history that is suddenly shared. The holiday season is full of joy and warmth and humanity, an important reminder to all of us that we are more alike than we are different.

I hope your holiday season is beginning joyfully! Keep Sparking!

I love this...great minds think alike...I think in one of my last blogs I wrote something to that referred to each little piece of you is actually a little piece of me. I believe this with all of my heart and only wish that others understood the concept. When you are cruel to another you are only actually hurting yourself since we truly are ALL interconnected. emoticon

I love to 'chat up' my customers in our consignment gallery. I learn so many COOL things from others..and ALWAYS something awesome from my sparkling friends..brilliants like you Steve! emoticon

It sounds like a good time was had by all and that is wonderful.

Your statement about your dad never meeting a stranger triggered a song in my head,
which is not at all unusual for me. The song was, God Loves All The Little Children. Like many of us, I learned it as a small child and I still love it today.

It is worth remembering that we are all God's children. And like your dad we are just not acquainted with all of our brothers and sisters yet.

I loved how you described your Dad as one who never meets a stranger. That's me! I talk to everyone. Today it was a woman in a shoe store...automatic friends. No shoes for me though... Hers were stunning and a bargain !

What a nice day! Great that Robert joined again, too! I love that your Dad is changing at his age...his new living environment has really had an impact on him! Proof you're never to old! What did you make for dinner this time in your beautiful new kitchen? Does Steve like to cook, too? There is something about Holiday time that brings with it a warmness and sense of community...if only we understood it is exactly how we need to be the rest of the year!
    Hugs
