Day 381 - Terrific Tuesday!

Tuesday, December 15, 2015

My interactions with various SparkFriends have reminded me of some important aspects of this community that are worth sharing, once again.

This website will give you back at least twice what you put into it. But you have to put in the effort to get back what you need. That means:

* Tracking your food, fitness, and water consumption
* Sharing your journey with others and seeking out friends who can help you reach your goals
* Reading the articles and taking in what they have to tell you, including motivation and more
* Getting at least 10 minutes of physical activity every day - starting with easy, low-impact exercises and building up over time
* Realizing that you didn't put on the weight overnight, and it won't come off that quickly either

I saw a great quote the other day that is important to share:

"A year from now, you might regret that you didn't start today."

It's like the person of a certain age who is thinking about starting college, but worries that they are too old when they graduate 4 years from now. The answer is, "And how old will you be 4 years from now if you don't go to college?"

This site is amazing, and there are tools to help people of all flavors, whether you have depression, hormonal imbalance, or just a lack of motivation. But you have to WORK if you want to achieve results. Yes, it's hard. Yes, it takes time and patience. But if you don't do it, will you regret a year from now that you didn't start now?

I am so grateful for what this site has given me. It has given me so much more than just being 45 pounds lighter. It has given me confidence. It has given me the ability to love myself. It has given me enthusiasm and gratitude. I am forever changed because of this amazing website and the community I've found within it.

Where do you want to be on December 15, 2016 - one year from today? How do you want to feel - about yourself, about your body, about your goals?

Now, give yourself the best gift ever - START TODAY.

Steve, you are so right. When I feel that I am am not getting anywhere or not getting the results I think I should get, then I think back to where I was. This site can give threefold the benefits if you give the proper attention to your program. And we should give back by offering the same support and motivation we get.

Right on...In my past I have had that thought over and over that if I had just done something I would be so far a head...the time goes by anyway, so why not make use of it?! Even if it's tiny baby steps...you will still be further a head and if you continue on you will get there! I don't care if it's slow, I just do not want to stay the same...and there is no going backwards!
    Happy Wednesday, Sparky!

You hit another one out of the park, Steve. Love the super positive message.

SparkPeople has something for everyone, the toe dippers, the knee waders and the polar bears.

Toe dippers....just getting started or thinking this is too good to be true

Knee waders....getting comfortable and making a commitment

Polar Bears....ready to take the plunge or already fully engaged

Come on in the water's fine emoticon

You are always so positive, love your attitude, and the supportive and kind comments you leave. You are so right, you only get out of Spark what you are willing to put in. I was here for awhile without participating and not getting any where. Go figure.....

Remember the Reagan campaign slogan in 1984: "Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago?" That applies to all things, not just politics.

Here's to the gratitude that fellow Sparkers have from using the tools here to help them get to where they are today on their journey and also to the Sparkers who are just now realizing that they can also accomplish the same things if they put the effort into it!

Hmmmm, where do I want to be next year? Steve, I think I want to be exactly where I am today but with a total clean bill of good health. I want to be living I my same home with Sundae, still do part time work, volunteer and spend quality time with my children, grandchildren and friends. I also want to still be a strong participant on this website. I guess you could say that I am very content where I am now so there really is no need for change. ;0)
