Lost in temptation

Thursday, December 17, 2015

I thought I had a good plan. We have 2 work birthdays coming up; one was mine. We always have cake to celebrate, but I thought if I brought in a cake for the first birthday, people might assume it was for both, and I would be spared a to-do. So I brought a cake in today, but it turns out the birthday person has started her vacation early, so I got stuck "celebrating" anyway. And since this ended up being *my* cake, I had to eat a piece of it. It was delish - I chose it after all - but it wasn't something I could avoid graciously.

But I built it into my meal plan and was going to stay on track. Until we got home and there was a big package on our stoop - a big holiday care package from my in-laws. Stuffed full with cookies, candies, salty crunchy munchies, small cakes - oof. And some of them are my favorites, available only this time of year. So of course the hub and I tore open one of the packages and started stuffing our faces. Well, there goes my plan for the day!

I'm glad to say the rest of the packages are still intact. I'm planning on sending half of them with the college kid when he heads back to his dorm in the new year. And I will bring some to share at work as well. But for about half an hour tonight, it really wasn't pretty!

I agree with SOOZIEQUE55! It could have been so much worse, and it usually is ifif I'm the one getting packages full of goodies. Don't worry, Bemused. Everything will be okay. A little self-forgiveness is in order! Holidays are not easy!

At least you stopped after one package. You could have eaten the whole thing!
