And so, the adventure begins...

Monday, December 21, 2015

Ah, another magic Monday. Erase your slate, renew your commitments, enjoy the week.

I just took my darling Daughter and her beau out to breakfast to celebrate Christmas. I gave them their presents, some bluetooth headphones and other miscellaneous things I thought of.

I love giving presents, because I love thinking of things to give that people didn't think of, and might like. Those headphones were a total surprise, and for two kids that have their phones velcro-ed to their hands, I cannot imagine why they didn't have them before.

We had fun eating at the "Pancake House", which is an awesome, always crowded breakfast place. They got omelets and pancakes and I ate fruit and dry toast. Did I want an omelet? Nope. I was perfectly satisfied, and they both looked at me when I ordered, kind of like, are you going to say anything...no I am not. I am not in charge of your health, you are adults.

I am in charge of mine, and I am so damned happy about all of it. I am delighted that I LOVE fruit, that a piece of sourdough toast is a treat, and that I can drink coffee with no half and half, because I don't want to waste the calories on something so insignificant. I did have a bite of my DD's omelet, and thought it was pretty good, but not worth the hundreds of calories.

I have become a health fiend, but just for me. I am not going to turn into someone who talks about food all the time, one who admonishes people for eating what they want. This is THEIR lives, and they have to figure it all out for themselves.

I'm off to California tomorrow, and I have not even started to think of packing. Perhaps I should get to it! Part of my magnificent Monday.

Have a magic Monday!

Spark on.

The wonderful thing about this is you are no longer fighting to resist the foods you want to eat. Healthy foods ARE the foods you want to eat!

I agree that other people need to make their own choices and find their own way. As long as they are happy to let us do the same of course!!

    Enjoy California!

I know you will have a marvelous time with your parents, because they are as awesome as you are. There may be some physical challenges, but I know you will conquer them, because that's just who you are.

Enjoying fresh fruit and sourdough toast (sourdough actually has a lot of health benefits!) is awesome! Once every couple of weeks, I make myself a healthy omelet, but I am in control of the portions, and that makes it all ok. But yes, it is super yummy (and full of protein, which is something I sometimes struggle to get enough of).

I will be thinking of you tomorrow when you're winging your way west. I pray that your trip is safe and uneventful, and if you have any layovers, that they involve minimal walking! Take care of your knee! I know you'll get your yoga in, and maybe a swim or two.

You are going to have a MARVELOUS time!

You know, your outlook on health is refreshing. Particularly, the point about being a health fiend for yourself and allowing others to be themselves related to their health. I'm the same. I don't give advice unless asked.

You have such will power. Mine is improving but I have a ways to go. In fact, my daughter-in-law brought some candy coated pretzels when they visited yesterday and I was just thinking about having one. BUT, thanks to you and my reading your blog first - I think I'll pass and have a glass of water instead!

Thanks and Happy Holidays! Safe travels as well.

We'll have to do a long distance breakfast! Mine was blackberries, blueberries and strawberries with one slice whole grain toast and two exquisite cups of Bob Marley's Buffalo Soldier Coffee emoticon

It is a joy to read about your relationship with your daughter and her beau emoticon

I hope you have a wonderful visit with your parents and safe travels always emoticon

Sounds like a very special and memorable breakfast celebration!
--- At a pancake house, I was always overwhelmed by the large selection of flavored syrups--(when all we had at home was standard Log Cabin)-- How could I possibly choose ? Haha (So I had to try several)--
Have a safe and happy trip!-- Merry Christmas!
