Bible & Blog Challenge Day 2
Monday, December 28, 2015
You may have noticed that I didn't post the challenge yesterday or the day before. Sorry about that. All I can say is that life gets in the way sometimes. Surely you know what I'm talking about!
Today was a very dreary day in Anderson, Indiana as the rain continued to come down all day long....it stopped only for a brief couple minutes here and there, and then started right back up again. It's now 7:48 pm here and I still hear it beating against the window. I managed to go for a 5-minute walk, 2 of which I spent getting drenched. Once I got inside, I had no motivation to workout, only to sit in front of the heater and warm up.
While the weather is certainly taking its toll on my energy level right now, I do find myself digging more into God's word. Today, I was reminded that I need to submit myself to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from me (James 4:7). How does this verse tie into weight loss?
In order to truly lose the weight and keep it off, we need to submit to God and allow him to work in us. We also need to resist the devil (bad foods), and he will "flee" from us. This means if we truly give our food addictions and lack of motivation to God, he will help us resist those bad foods that are harming our bodies. We can't do this alone, as many of us have already realized. We need to focus on the one who can truly help us break our addictions and destructive habits once and for all.
I challenge you today, while you still have time in your day, to grab your Bible and find a verse that speaks to you and motivates you. Write it on an index card and put it in a place where you can read it every day this week. Each time you feel like giving up, read that verse and be encouraged.
