Good afternoon from rainy day Indiana!!!
As our weather continues to be crazy (no snow and lots of rain!), I'm trying to find new ways to keep my motivation. I'd like to share a few of these with you, after today's verse, and hope that you will find at least one or two that you can try this week.
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. ~1 Corinthians 6:19-20
KEEPING YOUR MOTIVATION
XBOX K'NECT - When my husband gets home in the evenings, we usually throw a movie in the dvd player or play a board game. Last night, I decided to pop in our Adventure game for the k'nect, and we spent the next 45 minutes having fun as a family and burning calories at the same time!
CLEANING HOUSE - While this is NOT my favorite thing to do, I try to find one chore a day that I can do for at least 30 minutes. Today, it was cleaning our office/library. I dusted, cleaned the windows, and swept the floor. Don't tell my husband this, but I actually ENJOYED It!
STANDING WHILE ON THE COMPUTER - I normally sit on our comfy couch while checking email, Facebook, and of course, SparkPeople. This week, though, I'm trying to do most of my computer work while standing. I've brought my laptop in the kitchen and set it on a tall counter. It helps in two ways: 1. I'm not being sedentary. 2. It keeps me from spending all day on the computer, which I can easily do when I'm nice and comfy on the couch.
WALK THE BASEMENT STAIRS - I've been looking for reasons to walk up and down the stairs. Our washer and dryer are downstairs, so I get to walk up and down the stairs when I have dirty laundry. We also have to walk a few steps down to get to our backdoor, where our trash can is. I found myself this morning making 3 trips out back to throw a bag of trash away. Sure I could've thrown it all away in one turn, but I burned more calories making 3 trips up and down the stairs.
These are just a few that I've done lately with the bad weather. I'm also going to the library tomorrow to stock up on more workout dvds. I never realized how many different ones are available there! If you haven't yet checked out your local library, I urge you to do so, and check out a couple for yourself!
