My new year starts today

Wednesday, December 30, 2015

We are finally home. Yesterday was a tediously long travel day, and my food consumption was abysmal - the worst day that I've had the entire year. So awful that there is no way I'm going to document it; it's best forgotten as quickly as possible.

I miss my family, especially my mother. The year before I see her again at the end of 2016 seems painfully long. I spent part of the 3 hour drive home from the airport trying to think if I can take some time off next summer to visit Mom. She's getting to the age where finding a way to see her twice a year might be best for both our peace of minds (peaces of mind? peaces of minds? pieces of minds?).

But I'm also glad to be home because I will have control over my meals again. I'm looking forward to going to the market today and filling up the house with veggies and fruit. There are no batches of iced holiday cookies around to tempt me. Thank goodness!

I'm sure it is completely worth it, the trip, the poor eating, the travel, to see your family. I love to go, love to see the family, and then I love to come home. It is always a relief to be in complete control of what food is around. There is no substitute for fresh fruits and veges. Glad you made it home safe and sound.
