Happy New Year!
So, last night I picked up the kids from a party at 1:30 am. I have not intentionally been up that late in years. Since I don't drink, picking them up and getting them safely home was a no brainer, but it threw me off track, sleep wise. I'd do it again in a minute, because knowing your kid is home, is safe, is worth any sleep deprivation!!
No resolutions, just a re-check of the daily list I made while reading Beck, why this journey is so important to me, and why it matters every single day.
I am going to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes today, hopefully win the Rose Bowl. My parents met and attended the University of Iowa, so I have been a life-long Hawkeye fan. GO HAWKS!!
It is a magnificent day in Minneapolis. Snow on the ground, crisp air, and a perfect blue sky. Brilliant way to start a new year.
I hope this new year provides you with courage to meet your goals, fortitude to eat good, healthy things, and humor to find delight in things every single day.
A good attitude, extra courage, a bit of swagger, a likeable exercise routine, a good sized water bottle, and a kitchen filled with good things are what you need to succeed, at Spark and at life.
I now have those things, and feel extremely fortunate to be here today, writing this, knowing that today, tomorrow, next week, this year, I GOT THIS.
Start today, if you have not. Not because it is the new year, but because you can. Don't set yourself up for any kind of failure by putting additional pressure on yourself. This Spark journey is like an old car...if you baby it a little, get it started, keep it tuned, filled with good gas, you can drive it successfully for a long time.
The year is yours. What will you do with it?
