The Road Not Taken
Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Is this the year you take the road less traveled?

    This has always been one of my favorite poems, from my favorite poet. As you can imagine, I've often took the road less traveled in my life, from my coming out in 1978 to the life I'm living today. I was always so grateful for Robert Frost's words to give me comfort when I was frightened or unsure, knowing that ultimately this was the life I was meant to live.

    The fact that it led me to you is just confirmation, once again, that it HAS made all the difference.

    Keep Sparking, my friend. XOX

    Love this poem & read it, and Frost's 'Mending Wall,' in school interscholastic competitions in the 1960's.

    emoticon I'm following the winners in 2016! On roads less traveled or well trodden, I'm going to do what they do and listen to what they have to say.

    The road less traveled has always been has always been the one that beckons to me.
    I've seen a lot, done a lot and only have a few regrets.

    Life is an adventure.....live it to the fullest!

    Our journey may cross paths with others ... but we are to follow our own road to success.

    I used to do this a lot. (Both literally and figuratively!) If I was walking somewhere and there was a fork in the path, I would always want to know what was down both routes, and wonder what I was missing on the path I didn't take.

    I'm learning though. I'm learning to relax, make the most of the path I'm on, and trust that it is taking me where I need to go!

    LOVE that poem. Yes, definitely times in my life when I've ad to take the road less traveled and blaze my own path. Scary? Yes but end up right where I should be generally. If not, get the ol' compass out and plot a new path!
