I'm a Food-aholic

Wednesday, January 06, 2016

Hi! My name is Richard and I'm a food-aholic !! Yes, I'm addicted to to food and unlike other addictions- I must continue to partake in my addiction to survive. I have to battle it ONE BITE at a time. Don't misjudge or think I'm downgrading other addictive behaviors (drugs, alcohol, etc). Those are serious life-destroying addictions, but isn't my addiction as well? My addiction has caused family stress, illness, money problems (mostly health related expenses due to poor nutritional habits). It causes depression and anxiety as well. Unfortunately, the source of my addiction must continue if I plan to survive. (You can only live so long without eating!). It is a struggle. I mean it when I have to battle my addiction in every bite. Food PORN is everywhere as well. Advertisements for pizza, burgers, fries... Milk shakes, ice cream, snacks... You can't watch television without all the food porn. You can't drive two miles with out seeing some form of advertising for food/restaurant. How many other food-aholics are out there? Join me in the real Bite by Bite battle!

I'm not a food addict but I do love food. My problem is I don't know when to stop shoveling food into my mouth. Later on I'm uncomfortable and feel guilty and say I will never do this again. BUT I DO! Maybe I am a food addict and just won't say it.

I will start my New Years Eve tonight because so far this year and the year before have not been good. Health issues, sorrow and discomfort have found me and I intend to get rid of them starting today.

I have just had a good breakfast and will do at least 10 minutes of exercise by noon. You have to start somewhere so here is where I will start.

I fully understand what you say about food. It can be a curse but it has to be food in moderation and sometimes that is difficult to do.

So Richard what will we do about this addiction? Let it get the best of us? NO! Let's start with simple things to do...exercise for 10 minutes, eat 5 small, healthy meals a day drink as much water as we can and enjoy the little triumphs that we can accomplish. Doesn't sound too bad does it?

Let's get the lead out and move, move, move! I'm willing. Are you?
