I'm so thrilled to be a 5% Challenger
Tuesday, January 19, 2016
I have taken part in the 5% challenges for about 3-4 years now. They come up every season and my team is the Teddy Bears. The challenge encourages us to lose 5% of our weight (or maintain if you are in maintenance) and we compete against several other teams to see if we can get more fitness minutes and points for doing healthy things.
The Teddy Bears are the most supportive team on the planet and I always feel encouraged to do as many fitness activity minutes as a I can so I don't let them down.
You may have heard that California is getting a huge amount of rain due to El Nino weather patterns after 4 long years of drought. Every day when I see rain drops on my bedroom, my first impression is "drat" How am I ever going to power walk today in that. I try to power walk for at least an hour every day as part of my fitness plan and also so I can stack up those fitness minutes for my team.. But considering we've had water rationing for about two years I can't feel too sad.
It has made me a very optimistic person. When other people look out the window and see heavy rain clouds and feel they can't go out for a walk, I'm able to look at the clouds and think "I better get out there now so I can be back inside before it starts raining" Today I was able to do 6 miles before it started raining again so optimism surely can pay off!
And I was able to put in 120 minutes to our total too! Go Teddy Bears!
