Eat before Workout

Sunday, January 24, 2016

I exercise first thing in the morning i.e. 5:00am. That's way too early for me to eat, so I usually make sure I eat a nice balance of protein and carbs the evening before, usually beans, bean cakes or a leafy salad...I do always have a 100-200 calorie snack straight after exercise though.

It's person specific, some people like to eat before working out and others don't. I don't like it, and if I do eat, it needs to be a good hour or so before I workout.

The run 3 mornings a week. Anywhere between 6 to 8 miles. I can not eat before I run. But your body will tell you 😉

Don't worry about eating before - eat healthy after, you'll be fine.

You don't have to eat before exercise, but you might need more after. I think the recommended amount is 50%of what you burned, but check the articles

I am a believer in listening to your body. If you can't eat that early or feel sick when working out in the morning after eating, then don't eat. I work out at 4:30am and usually have something small like 1/4 cup of cheerios and some water.

I also exercise in the morning as well. I know that way I have the energy for it and will definately get it in.
