Life is tough, my darling, but so are you.

Sunday, January 31, 2016

This is my theme for this week. I have to work through pain, and come out the other side, having done all that has been asked of me, and more. I WILL get through Physical Therapy, and will be moving forward every single minute.

Being in pain, is luckily something that you never remember. You can remember that you had it, but cannot remember what it felt like. If we could recall pain, I am pretty sure, we wouldn't do some of the things we need to do to feel better.

I am at this care center that is really a treat. I have my own room, a big screen TV (have not turned that on yet..), have nurses and aides that some by all the time and help with anything I want or need, and the whole point here, is that you recover in surroundings that are relaxing, peaceful and are supposed to help with healing.

Because there are not buzzers going off all the time, and there are not people going up and down the halls, making all kinds of noise, and roommates with distracting noise, this is a smart way to go through recovery. I feel really fortunate that somehow I ended up here, and am delighted that I will spend the next week or two, working towards a pain free future, and one where my knee finally works correctly.

I am working really hard on exercises, and walking and trying to do things on my physical therapy list, some that I cannot yet do. It is an odd thing, when your body is not willing to cooperate with you. I cannot pick up my leg, nor can I move it from the floor onto the bed. I have to have someone help me. Every day WILL be better. My goal is to be moving my leg and knee next week.

Luckily, I have some great books, can watch all kinds of movies, and the food here is not only good, but healthy. Not a bad place to heal, not bad at all!!

I hope all of you are having a great weekend.

Spark on.

How nice for you that you are in a peaceful and calm environment, with so much help. My BIL had a knee replacement and he was sent home, with a nurse coming by daily to do pt, but he had do all the day to day stuff himself, feeding himself, getting himself up to the bathroom, it was rough. With the great care and your positive attitude, you should have that knee working in no time!

Work your PT. When I had my bi-lateral knee replacements ... I had my tech take me out to my car in the parking lot and practice getting in and out of the car.

    Ask for what you need.

It is wonderful how the body gathers its resources to heal and recover function. We are marvelous pieces of work and should be very thankful that we are able to recover from any manner of insult to the body.
I think after surgery there is a level of shock that one should respect.
And at the same time, it's so important to get moving and stay active. A fine balance and it seems you are in the right place to do what you need to do.

So glad the care center has turned out to be what you were hoping for! And even though your leg isn't cooperating at the moment, that PT will bring you along at the right pace for your healing. Before you know it you'll be in and out of that bed on your own!

Sounds like you are doing great and in an awesome place! This little gem is something that I hope I remember for a long time: "Being in pain, is luckily something that you never remember. You can remember that you had it, but cannot remember what it felt like." Thank you for that! So true!

It does sound like you are in the perfect place to heal! Pain is a sign that your body is healing yourself, and I have no doubt that your body will reward all the love and kindness that you have shown it, and will heal quickly.

Hi Jane, glad you are moving forward, one trick I learned when I had my knees done was using a belt, just fasten the belt together then, loop it around your foot and lift, that way you can be independent and do it when you want to.
