Day 538 Some days just go weird....

Wednesday, February 03, 2016

I guess it's ok to have lots of snow when you live near a ski area. I agree that it would be nice if it managed to not snow in places we don't like it to. I don't want any snow on my front sidewalk. At least I have a guy that comes to shovel for me.

I got a very strange friend request on FB today. A man whose name was slightly familiar ask me if I was the "JO" he had dated in high school. That was actually the clue I needed to remember why that name sounded familiar. He lived in the same block as my grandma. So when we were at her house I used to hang out with him. I don't know if I'd call that dating or not but he was a nice kid. I probably haven't seen or even much thought about him in 50 years. Sort of left a little thrill.

I laid out the Minecraft quilt today and started tying it. This will take me a couple of days. Then a friend asked if I could make some baby booties for her great niece. So I started working on them. And then I just sort of piddled around the house. I managed to find 10 things to throw away. I should do that everyday. I also spent a lot of time playing solitaire on the computer. Just kind of wanted to zone out today.

Always a little shock to get a "blast from the past" like that, isn't it?!?

It's something when you see or hear from somebody from your long ago past... That happened to me a year ago last summer when one of my classmates set me up with a blind date when we were in school fifty years ago. Bob and I went out for a few months and then we broke up. Later he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Alaska. After he had been there a few months he must have gotten lonely because he wrote to me asking if we could get back together. I told him we could be friends and that I would write to him, but nothing more serious. Eventually we stopped writing. Then last summer my friend who had introduced us invited me to lunch with him because she had been seeing him and talking on the phone with him. Her husband passed away about 10 years ago. It was an interesting lunch and visit, and I told Bob not wait another 50 years before sharing lunch out again! Old memories...

We had almost 50 degrees here again today, but they say we will be back in the teens in the next ten days. This has been a really strong winter weatherize. I'm glad we don't have your snow or Colorado's. So you were able to keep busy during your snow day. Sounds good! Have a great day tomorrow!
