Day 432 - Positive Energy

Friday, February 05, 2016

Make sure your thoughts are positive and powerful.

Ever since I started on my journey of healing after my accident, I realized how important our thoughts are to how we feel, how we act, and how we behave. If you see life as a constant struggle, always challenging, and difficult, then that's what your life will be. If you see your life as a source of joy, an opportunity to help someone else, a source of pride and love, then your life will be filled with wonder.

I remember last year when this job opportunity first came to me. Every time I passed the intersection where the college was, I would think to myself that the job was mine, that I was going to be offered the position. It was so real in my heart that I couldn't think of any other alternative. On top of that, I saw in my mind a job that was perfect for my skills. I knew that I would fit in perfectly with the team from day one.

You know what? All those dreams became my reality. And the job turned out to be even better than even I could imagine! Every day is awesome, and I go into work each day feeling energized and enthusiastic. Even a day like today, when I had meetings from 7am until noon, and then an endless parade of people walking through my door with issues and questions and frustrations, I still felt like I had a mission, a drive to make a difference for the campus and our faculty and staff.

Every day I try to focus my energy in a positive direction. It's how I approach eating, tracking, exercise, and relationships. I hope you'll give it a try. It certainly can't hurt! Give yourself some space to be awesome! Believe in yourself. Keep your thoughts positive, and harness their power.

    Thanks for another great blog!

I equate positive energy to being open. Open to new ideas, people and experiences. Open to asking for help and to offering help. Open to trying and failing and then trying again. Open to all that life has to give and in turn being open to share all you've learned.

Hey Steve, thanks for another super post.
By nature I'm very positive, things go well for me. My best bud is always saying things like "if something can go wrong for me it will". And sadly they often do.
I'll share your post with him... It would sound like "Pollyanna" coming from me. Maybe it'll sink in seeing this lesson from someone else.

Let's have a great weekend! Brad

I hear ya and feel I have been making progress! And, like you said, as you're putting it out there, it starts a reaction and starts coming back to you! You have to experience it to believe it! This is true in actions and words...the saying of be careful what you say (or ask for)...you put it out there it's gonna manifest (or you just might get it!)!
    Have a wonderful weekend!

This is so important and sometimes tricky. When that road ahead looks all uphill, being positive is harder, but even more important. I am thrilled that your life now is like a banquet of happiness

More great wisdom from you Steve. The older I get the more I think we really DO have a choice in how we CHOOSE to feel. And things feel so much better when we choose the "light" side . Thanks for the gentle reminder. HUGS, Pat

Sometimes it is the work environment that can change one's attitude. For years, I dreaded going to work, but with some employees removal, my life has changed for the better there. I now have a very positive attitude and smile all day!
I make myself think of something positive about each situation now.

I try to do just that dear Steve. To be positive and hopefully let it rub off on people. Your job was made for you, the college is so lucky to have you onboard! You are such an inspiration, I truly needed to read this blog tonight! Much love my friend...
