Day 434 - Anderson Marsh State Historic Park

Saturday, February 06, 2016

We took a hike this afternoon at Anderson Marsh State Historic Park, which is just a few miles from home, in nearby Lower Lake, California. It was a beautiful day, about 65F, and it was perfect for hiking. Here's a link with more information on the park:

It was a great day for a hike. Along the way we saw some gorgeous manzanita that was just starting to flower. The red bark of these small trees/large shrubs is nothing short of amazing!

We hiked about 6.5 miles. By the end we were pretty worn out, but it was worth it. What a great way to connect with nature and with each other. Good conversation, too.

To end our amazing day, we came home to a gorgeous sunset, the first we've seen in 2016!

What a treat to have such a great experience on the first weekend of February. To top it off, I finally stopped by our local library this morning and got my library card! Now I feel truly to be a resident of Clearlake! (Our town library when I was a kid in Peru, Indiana, was a "Carnegie Library" about 4 blocks from our house. I loved going there on the weekend to get a book or three to read. I look forward to getting back into that habit!)

Yes, today was a perfect day! I hope yours was equally awesome!

Keep Sparking, friends!!!

Your hike sounds wonderful. WooHoo for the Library card! Nothing quite says "this is my library, the one my taxes support" than having and using a library card.

Well done and just what you needed after feeling a bit wrung out at the end of the week. The photos are beautiful and I loved the link you provided.

It always makes me happy when habitat and wildlife are being protected. The information on the Native American inhabitants was also encouraging. In the future, I hope you and Steve will spend many happy hours there.

emoticon enjoy using your new library card!

Loved the pic's and blog..and red bark?? that's a first, looks interesting. Temp seems perfect at 65 for a hike. Sounds like you enjoyed yourselves.

I use to take grandkids to library all the time for story time. I would always take a book out, after just wandering around waiting on them. Our library .. the new one..over looks a lake, and there is a walking trail all around it. Mmmmm given me ideas.. Thanks Steve.
