Day 443 - Downton Abbey

Tuesday, February 16, 2016

I discovered today that I have access to all seasons of Downton Abbey through Amazon Prime. I'm not sure that's a good thing, but I was able to watch the first three episodes of Season 1 tonight. Now I understand why everyone raved about it. It's gorgeous, with excellent writing and acting. Wow.

I thought Steve would really get into it as well, but he appeared to be asleep through most of the 3rd episode. Oh, well... He has been watching the ABC series Revenge on Netflix (which he has already watched from first episode to last), so I guess he just couldn't muster the strength for another series. ;)

It was fun to escape from work and income tax returns for an evening. An email from the college president at 7pm suggested that my boss Annette and I would need to work through the evening. I'm sorry to say that she took the bait, but I'm grateful for her stamina. I wasn't ready to get back into work mode after a wonderful four-day weekend.

February is now half over! Are you going to reach your monthly goals, if you set them? You still have two weeks - make the most of them!

Keep Sparking, and keep a stiff upper lip!

I love that show and I'm not sure what I am going to do with myself when it ends. I'm rooting for Edith, you might not understand that now but you will once you watch the series LOL. Enjoy!

I love, love, love Downton Abby. It is truly well written and the scenery is awesome. I just hate that this is the last season.

Anything PBS does is usually very good. Mr. Selfridge is another great one-can't wait for it to come back.

I'm MAD for Downton Abbey...watched the first two seasons hardly getting up to go to the bathroom...talk about binge watching. I'll be sorry to see it end after this season but most likely will go back and watch it again from Season 1. It always manages to put in enough twists and turns to totally hold my attention. I have to talk DH into watching it with me...he prefers The Walking Dead which I also enjoy...just can't watch it right before bed...NIGHTMARES! emoticon But it's really a good good series. DH said if that event ever happened people would GET REAL about what is TRULY important in life REAL quick. With all of the viral diseases floating around one sometimes gives pause...hope it NEVER happens though...I'm too wimpy to go through that kind of gore.

    Hugs to you my friend!

I think that series was very well done and pretty realistic too. My father's maternal grandfather, Robert Flanders, was the butler to a lord in a stately home in Leicestershire in England. I have a photo of him in a stiff collar looking very stern with a parrot sitting on his shoulder!
Glad you didn't overdo things at work on your first day back - you would have been wrecked for the rest of the week.... Look after yourself, Steve!

I couldn't imagine having to live that life... to many problems, and everybody in your business... Upstairs or downstairs. Give this boy the 21st century.
    Cheers!

Oh binge watching...I am a sucker for it and love being able to watch without commercials and at my pace! I have watched some absolutely amazing things on Netflix! I have to get my new IPad to see Amazon Prime as my IPad is too old! I will watch all of Downton Abby...I only saw one season...but it's amazing! You'll be drinking tea!
I am glad you enjoyed your four day weekend! And atleast it's a four day work week, even if you have to put in extra hours!
    Have a great week!
    Hugs,
    Mary
