Day 446 - Preparing for the Weekend

Friday, February 19, 2016

This is going to be a really fun weekend. Steve's boss from the flower shop where he worked when we lived in Sacramento is coming up for the weekend. Her birthday is Sunday. It's amazing that she wants to spend her birthday with us. She's a really special woman (I always referred to her as Steve's "work wife"). I got home from my day at our Colusa County Campus, and he was on the phone with her. I don't know how long they'd been talking, but the conversation went on for another half hour at least.

She'll be here tomorrow - you can talk to her then! LOL

Tomorrow we three are going to our friends Mel and Kurt's house for dinner. We're getting there early enough to tour their 160-acre property and see all the daffodils in bloom. Karen loves daffodils so much that she named her dog Daffodil (Daffy, for short). She owns a flower shop, so I know she'll love seeing all the beauty in their property, as well as their view into the Napa Valley.

Life is so good right now. It might not be perfect, but in our hearts, it's pretty darn close. I continue to read blogs from people who are just plugging along, not seeing what's good, or even great, in their existence. I have such a hard time reading blog posts from people who are just reporting their day, with no insight or revelation about how they made it better. Hey - all of you - I'm giving you a virtual smack right now! If you're one of those bloggers, just stop it! I'd rather that you just didn't post anything than to post something that doesn't lift yourself to a higher place.

There is so much good in the world (turn off the TV and let life surround you with beauty). Surround yourself with people that you love. And above all, love yourself. Your life will be so much better when you do.

Keep Sparking!

Sounds like you're going to have another great weekend emoticon

I have to admit I am dealing with a few pangs of daffodil envy. I'm in my home office bundled up like an Eskimo. But all is not lost. I will use a field of daffodils as today's visualization for my daily meditation.

Don't forget to post some pictures emoticon

    Lots of emoticon

Great blog. I'm amazed by people who always find negative things to say. I don't know how they make it through life. There is so much beauty and so many wonderful things in the world, why focus only on the negative. When I find myself dwelling on gloomy or cynical thoughts or events, I'll get up, get away, and do something fun and cheerful. Specifically, after listening to some of the presidential candidates earlier this week, I ran outside and flew a kite. it was much more enlightening!! Spark on and have a great weekend Steve.

We should strive to become better. If we continually look at other people and compare ourselves to other people, we are focusing on other people and forgetting that we can give thanks for what we have been given and for what we can give.
