Day 565 A simple trip to town took 4 hours.

Tuesday, March 01, 2016

I was just going to drop off mom's tulip quilt. But then dad needed help and then mom wanted to show me all the pretty decorations on the doors of other peoples rooms. And then of course I needed to do some shopping. I was out of cat food and litter. Not a good plan at my house.

After being a caregiver full time isolated me. Sometimes I almost still feel afraid to talk to people because I "want" or "need" them to like me. This is taking a long time to get over. But I am working on it.

Today when I was at home I was just going to be lazy but decided I really needed to at least pick up the dog and cat toys and then, the dishwasher was clean and then the laundry was ready for the dryer and this went on all afternoon. This evening I can barely walk anymore.

Almost 9000 steps today. I was pretty good about eating on schedule but I did eat a small bag of chips. Tomorrow I have got to start my quilt squares for the month. Because of Easter our monthly meeting is the week of the 17th. Not many days left to make 2 squares and still do my homework for quilt class this week. I also promised mom I would take her out to lunch on Fri. Looks like a busy couple of days coming up.

When we need to do something different - something we haven't done in a long time - it makes sense to be a little wobbly, whether you're talking about riding a bike or talking with people. It all gets better when you press through the "uncomfortableness" of it. You're doing great!

Hang in there! You have done many good things for your parents. Now it's time to think a little more about letting yourself enjoy some of your own activities. The more you are around your group of quilting friends the more comfortable you will become. That social anxiety will ease. Look at the friends you have here on SparkPeople! You are a likable person!
