bp normal again?

Wednesday, March 09, 2016

we had biometic screening at work today. i am sick and tred and a bit grouchy. i told her my drs office are watching my for high blood pressure. yet my bp was 120/78. the nurses at work were doing it manually because sometimes the machines give bad readings. on march 1 my drs office measured it with the machine at 148/105! now it seems odd that it would vary this much in a week. i used to give blood regularily (stopped when thyroid issues were found)
and my bp was always in the healthy range.
i am wondering it the machine at the drs office was set up weird. will know again in a frew weeks when i go back.
i may ask them to do it manually.

It also depends on which arm they do it with. You can get two different reading on each arm. One could be higher than the other so make them take it on both to see what they are.

Agree with Barb. The difference can be as much as 30%, if I remember correctly, if the wrong-sized cuff is used.

Manual would be a good option. Good luck!

It's possible if the cuff was too small for whatever the reason, it would cause a higher reading.

    Good luck!
