The soccer kid has spent 8 days at home recovering a bit from her knee surgery, and is going to try to return to school tomorrow. She can barely hobble on crutches, and can barely bend her knee enough to sit down, so I doubt she will last the whole day. But she wants to try, so we'll see how it goes.
In the meantime, I feel a little hung over from eating. Her club soccer team sent a box of chocolate covered fruit. Her school soccer team brought over a chocolate cake and bags of candy. Because the kid and hub share a birthday, my in-laws sent a huge box of treats as well. I baked two mini-cakes on Sunday since our college kid came home to help celebrate. And we went out for a birthday dinner tonight. Oof.
I have indulged in only a fraction of all the birthday treats we have in the house, but still feel bloated and sluggish. Now that the big birthday day is officially over, I'm going to work on disposing of some of the treats. Some I will take to work to share, and others I can send to the college kid since he and his dorm buddies are bottomless. I hate to throw away food unless I have to - especially for self-preservation!
