Day 476 - Clarifications

Saturday, March 19, 2016

In my post yesterday, some people thought I meant that people shouldn't share their troubles on SparkPeople. I'm sorry if that was the message you received, but it wasn't what I meant to say. (In the heat of the moment, sometimes the words come out wrong.)

What I meant was that if someone's life is in such terrible shape, getting professional help is the best answer. Unfortunately, some of the posts I read here don't seem to be about someone whose life is in danger (emphasis on "seem to be"). After hearing the backstory of La'Porsha Renae (unfortunately, the information that was shared on the show before she started singing wasn't included in the YouTube clip, and it was really important stuff), I was reminded that most of us have it pretty good, and if we spend too much time whining, we might miss something wonderful.

I will say that without a doubt my life is awesome, and I have wonderful friends, both in real life and here on Spark. I'm so grateful for all of you. I want nothing more than to lift you up and shine a warm light on you so you see how awesome you are. There is nothing better than feeling (and believing that you are) amazing.

Go out and be awesome today. Enjoy life. Know that you are loved.

And keep Sparking.

You ALWAYS lift me up and make me smile and make me think about inspiring things! I LIKE that about you....a BUNCH! emoticon

We are all pretty doggone lucky! No matter how things might look on any given day overall our life is pretty peachy compared to so many in the world.

We are blessed beyond our own comprehension in more ways than we pause to count...thank you for helping me KNOW this! emoticon

    what 911BRAD said!

we're all entitled to a bit of commiserating, but I don't want it to get out of hand.

I know how negative people drain me, so I don't want to do that to anyone.

    Spark on!

There is a woman here on Sparks that is an abusive place, refuses to leave or acknowledge it,even after many of us have gently suggested she get outside help.
    Choice is the exact word.
If we do what we've always done, we'll get what we've always gotten.

The phase that keeps screaming in my head is freedom of choice. There are more people blogging on Spark on any given day than anyone could possibly read. That means that each of us gets to pick and choose the blogs we want to read everyday. The blogs that we visit now and then and the blogs that we don't relate to at all and yes the blogs that are always gloom and doom.

Steve, it was sweet of you to say that you were sorry for the way some of your faithful readers understood your message. But it was your message and it came from a deeply emotional place. You are such a caring and sharing person speaking for myself I know that you would never intentionally hurt anyone.

That being said, I am calling for a great big virtual hug fest. Me first emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Oh heck, I think that some of the blogs on here need to be taken down. Someone who repeatedly writes about how awful they have it, and how often they don't follow the diet is here to socialize, and I don't think it is interesting or fun to read any of it.

I like uplifting blogs from successful people. You are one of them!!!

There is nothing wrong with writing about something that happened to you, if it is done with humor and not a "woe is me" attitude. I am all over blogs where someone had a bad day. Bad life, not so much.

    Love you, AND your blogs.

Oh, I didn't think you meant it as literally as it came across, but felt I needed to clarify it so those reading would not feel they couldn't express what was going on in their lives that may in turn jeopardize their staying on track with health goals, etc! People get alot of support here that they may not find anywhere else!
Thanks for clarifying...it says something about you...and your supportive and caring ways!
    Hugs,
    Mary

Sometimes it's the only avenue for Sparkers who just can't express themselves any where else. Knowing you as I do I am sure you meant no harm. But... Why am I not notified when you blog ? MaringGal either. I hate missing you guys.
