Suggestions for World War 2 Scrapbook?

Wednesday, March 23, 2016

This is a picture of my Mother's very old scrapbook. It contains various things, like newspaper clippings, post cards and some Japanese paper money. My Mother left this scrapbook to me. I was neatly wrapped in brown paper and sealed with tape. She had addressed a note on the front of the brown paper to me with a note from her.

This was just recently found in my Mother and StepFathers home.

The things were collected during World War 2, before I was born. I would like to preserve these pages, but most of the things she collected are either glued to the pages or scotch taped. (Now very yellow tape).

These pages are like a very thin art paper. I am asking what is a good way to keep these?
Should I try to buy more blank scrapbook pages and glue the old pages to them?

All suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks and blessings to my Spark People Family and Friends.

Great suggestions. I'd also try to photograph each of the pages to have a permanent way to save them and even share with others. Also...make plans now for who you want to have it when you're no longer able to enjoy it. Wouldn't it be sad if someone didn't know how important it is to you and was to your mother and instead just threw it out. Hopefully there is a younger family member who is interested, and if not, perhaps a local museum/library, etc. It's beautiful, Brenda!

I agree.... check with a local historian. They will be able to advise you.

Find a local expert and take it to them. Google "Document Conservation" for your area. We're about 40 miles from the nearest, largest town and there were several choices. Good Luck!!
