A historic day off

Sunday, March 27, 2016

After a few late nights followed by several early mornings, we slept in today - what a treat! And then spent the afternoon doing the touristy thing, following the Freedom Trail in downtown Boston. It took us over an hour just to navigate the park downtown because we had to stop for snacks and to listen to street musicians. Then another several hours to walk the first half of the actual trail. We were slow because we stopped to read signs and tombstones, to take a lot of pictures, and because the kid's post-surgery knee is still mending. So while we didn't manage to walk the whole thing, it was an afternoon full of memories.

The kid is lying on the hotel bed with her knee covered by a bag of ice. There's a bistro in the hotel which is good, because I don't think the kid can walk further than down the hall for dinner. Tomorrow morning we will hit the next college - hopefully her knee will have recovered and she'll still think this is fun!

Glad you are able to get ice and keep it on the knee. Your trip sounds fun and a great way to get to see another side of your daughter. Have fun and hope that everything goes well. emoticon

What an amazing trip you are having. What wonderful memories you are making. Hope her knee holds up. Nothing is as much fun or as interesting if you are in pain.
