Day 486 - Where's Your Path
Tuesday, March 29, 2016
As I left campus to go to make my last bank deposit for March, I was behind a car that had a bumper sticker that read "Don't follow the path, make one." I kept thinking, I must use that for my blog post today. I got home and researched the quote, and lo and behold, it's from Ralph Waldo Emerson, one of my favorite people from history.
All of you who comment regularly on my posts know that I appreciate you because you all have created your own path on this journey, and you honor me by allowing me to accompany you. I too have forged my own path, based on my abilities and my limitations, and I am so grateful that you all have stayed with me through all the ups and downs (and mostly ups) of my journey too! While I would love to reach new sparkers and tell them what to expect while also encouraging them to forge their own path, it's not necessarily up to me to be the one to push them down the road less traveled.
So I will just say this to whoever is listening: you are unique and special. Your journey will not be like anyone else's here on Spark. You can do exactly the same thing as someone else, and you will get different results. You might be able to duplicate someone's eating and activity as close to exactly as possible, and you still will not be able to match their metabolism, body type, or the hundreds of other variables that comprise each of us and make us different.
Don't be disappointed if you don't have the same results as someone else. Celebrate instead that you are on your own path and will reach your goals in your own time. You are awesome! Let's have a party!
