On a USE it or Lose it thing

Thursday, April 07, 2016

Most of you have heard the "Use it or lose it statement." Well, I have been purging for a VERY long time. Now I have decided that while I am purging, I will stop to see if there are things that I can use. Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, I am finding a few things that I am able to make use of.

I am using some things, giving away some things and throwing away the rest.

I knew that I had a LOT of "STUFF," but who knew it was this much???

My best friend and I discuss clearing out things on a constant basis. If we lived in the same state, we could help each other with this process. We do encourage each other when we are on the phone, and that does help.

With my project for today, I am thinking I might need a paper mask and to raise some windows. (Old lotions, shower gels, body sprays and perfumes). Phewwwwwww.
Why did I let this go for so long? It doesn't stink, just smells good, but kinda loud.

Thank You Lord for helping me realize that I do not need as much as I think I do.

I always feel so good after clearing out stuff. Recently took a huge load of towels to the local Humane Society. They were choking me but doing some good with the cats & dogs who will be sleeping on them.

Getting rid of the clutter makes me feel better. Tossed years of collected "stuff" last summer. Plan to do the same this summer. Good luck with your job!! emoticon

Love the background on your page!! Very calming.

Some people hang on to "stuff" because they just don't get around to dealing with it - too many other priorities for their time. Other people hang on to "stuff" because of the memories attached to the items. Ultimately, however, most of the time it is "just stuff." We went through this two years ago when we downsized and moved. I got most of that done and just plain ran out of time to sort through things. So here I am, still trying to deal with "stuff" and, in this case, have so many other things going on I don't get back to the "stuff." You are wise to do this now, when you have the time and energy and opportunity to clean out things. One idea: if you want to hang onto an item for the memories but don't have enough space, take a good picture of the item. Store a copy in a safe on-line site and then a backup copy somewhere else, or even keep one file folder with a hard copy. And it's great that you have a friend to encourage you. Keep up the good work!

Wish you well. I felt that way last year as we moved out of our house. 10 years of "collecting" had 2 be sorted and dealt with. Now like you mentioned it's a routine once a month every room is "investigated" and processed 4 keep/trash/giveaway items.
