Spring anxiety

Thursday, April 14, 2016

It took forever for spring to arrive - we still had snow on the ground only a few days ago. But it looks like our season has finally changed. The sunshine is a real treat. I'm glad to have put my huge puffy down coat back into hibernation.

But now I'm worried about transitioning to my warm weather wardrobe. I have essentially two sets of clothes: one for cold weather, and the rest for non-cold weather. There are short sleeves and cropped pants in the non-cold weather. And baring even that much skin is making me nervous.

It's ridiculous, because I work with many men in their 60s and some in their 70s, and I'm pretty sure none of them are concerned about how they look in shorts or t-shirts. And me? Well, I haven't been brave enough for shorts in public in over a decade. I need to learn to strut (shuffle?) around like a confident 70 year old guy!

That's one of my goals too for this spring/summer - feel confident enough in my own skin to not give a dang. We always worry what others may think about us. Very likely nobody really cares. I have, let's say, proportionally oversized calves. Hehe. That is something that won't go away no matter how much weight I lose. For that reason I don't like to wear skirts/dresses. Well, this year I'm outfitting myself with quite a few skirts and dresses. Of course, I have no shoes to wear with my new wardrobe either; those sneakers just won't do.

I love crop pants and I no longer give a damn what others think about what I am wearing, with the exception of the hubby, of course. It's kind of a perk of getting older, or should I say mature?? Or just comfortable in my own skin, but at any rate, I Iike it.

I just love your sense of humor! You make me laugh so often! Bemused, I just cracked up at the idea of your colleagues in their 60s and 70s strut/shuffling through the corridors in their shorts and t-shirts!

Yeah, I guess we women are different. We care about how we look. Just a fact of life. Ooooooh, I'm going to have to get a bathing suit this year, because we'll be visiting my bother at his beach house, and that's what you do at the beach, right? Wear bathing suits on the beach. Oh dear. Don't wanna.
