Well, I am back from my trip to SC. I was down there helping my Mom clean and organize the house and shed in preparation for when my Dad comes home. The trip was delayed a week to my be sick. Dad is sick and not doing well. Alzheimer's is kicking his behind. He can no longer move his legs on command and his short term memory is pretty much gone. He did come home last Friday before I left.
Not knowing how long down the road this disease will take him to a better place, I have decided, since all the family is in the northeast and they now reside in SC, I am getting my siblings together to talk about next steps and what we can do to give support.
My mother, however, will be given plenty of help from various organizations that deal with this terminal illness. She has hospice, home health and VA assistance. She can work so she has a nurse at the house seven days a week.
I want to thank all my spark friends for keeping my family in your prayers as we work through this. It has been comforting.
The last two weeks, my diet and exercise has not been very good. However, down in SC, I did a lot of heavy house cleaning from washing windows, changing out curtains, organizing stuff, lifting heavy boxes/containers into the storage shed and fixing things that needed attention. My mother does not like to cook these days, so meals were eaten out (until my Dad came home). We laughed, because now she will need to do some cooking because Dad is wheelchair bound and no ramp, yet, to get him outside (that is in progress). But I did leave her with plenty of prepared food in the fridge and freezer so they won't go hungry.
Since, I've been home, I've been busy just trying to catch up with house work, my job and get back into a regular routine. I did manage to make it to a session yesterday with my personal trainer. Boy, did that feel good! Then, went to pick up a few things at the grocery store since we were also out of a lot of healthy items. I never thought I would miss my fruit and whole wheat bread.
I am staying away from the scale this week because I already know, it will show a gain. Next week is another week and I will have a full week of "normalcy".
Thanks again for your support! Wishing you all a great week!
