Boost Metabolism by:

Good Morning,
Last night I watched a show about a woman that weighed 800 lbs. I taped the one where the lady weighed 1000 lbs.
The 800 lb. lady did not want to eat the diet food prescribed for her, but ate all of it at the end of the day. The announcer said that eating like that would mess up her metabolism.
So this morning I am on my computer checking out "Metabolism." Unfortunately, not a lot of helpful info for my particular situation. I did come across 2 sites that gave me some helpful hints. "WebMD" and "Dr. Oz."
Here are some things I learned from "WebMD"
Strength Training:
Muscles use 6 calories per pound, per day. fat uses 2 calories per pound, per day.
After a session of strength training, muscles are activated all over your body, raising your daily metabolic rate.
Our bodies burn more calories digesting PROTEIN than it does eating fat or carbs.
Protein-rich foods:
Lean Beef
Turkey
Fish
White Meat Chicken
Tofu
Nuts
Beans
Eggs
Low-fat Dairy Products
Avoid crash diets.. they slow metabolism and burn fewer calories and gain more weight back.
From Dr. Oz:
By the time you reach 40, metabolism slows down 5% every decade. {no fair, weight loss is a challenge without this :-(
Ways to help:
1) Cut 100 calories a day, or exercise those calories off.
2) You can have your Ice Cream, just cut back
3) Add Protein
4) Have Healthy Snacks
5) Drink Iced Tea..... (unfortunately, I like sugar in my tea.)
6) Take Zinc
7) Exercise in short bursts. Sit in a chair...stand up not using hands/arms. Repeat a few times....builds muscle, burns fat.
My Notes:
I am not a Doctor..... I did get these suggestions off of the web sites I mentioned. Always use caution when you start exercising or changing your eating habits. See your own physician before starting any program that concerns your body.
*As a side note, I don't think I want to even try Tofu. Also, I cannot take Zinc.
Wishing all of my Spark People friends/family a blessed day.
