Lightening the load

It's after 2 am, and I have *finally* finished a couple of work chores. I had hoped to get them done earlier this week but just couldn't manage to get myself into it until today. I decided to stay home so I could focus on work; when I'm actually *at* work I get precious little done because people keep stopping by, and I am very bad at telling them to go away.

And it's after 2 am and I did not snack tonight. That makes it a 4-day streak of tracking and sticking to plan, which is better than I have managed in months. Of course, I am very hungry right now, so it's time to fill myself up with a couple of glasses of water and drag myself to bed.

The college kid is moving home tomorrow for 3 months. Just in time for Mother's Day! I am going to enjoy this summer as much as I can. He's going to move into an off-campus apartment at the end of summer, and I think that will mark his "permanent" independence - he probably won't be spending entire summers at home anymore. So I am going to sneak in as many hugs and smooches this summer as I can; they are going to have to hold me for a while!

Bemused, you are doing great on snack avoidance! Yay!

I hope you squeeze every moment of joy out of the upcoming summer months. I remember feeling wistful when my own son reached a point where he would no longer be able to spend more than a few days in a row here at home. But knowing that our time is limited really makes me cherish what little we have compared to before. He left yesterday after several days here, and the house just got a bit lonelier. On the other hand, I'm so glad he has a good job, as I know you are proud and happy that your son is smart and independent and will be a happy adult.
