Missing Puzzle Piece

Monday, May 16, 2016

Yesterday in church our worship leader stepped in to cover for our ill pastor and spoke about what he knows best: worship! He spoke about how worship is not a feeling or a chore but it is often seen that way and can be the missing piece of your Sunday puzzle. That made me go all crazy introspective and think of all the other areas of my life I may be missing pieces and trying to fill them with other things. I replace exercise with TV because lets face it, its much easier to come home and veg on the couch than change clothes and head out for a walk, but I've already been working on that. I have cut back on my TV watching this past week. In fact, I'm currently only watching my guilty please, Gilmore Girls (because it is the story of my life!!! well, sort of). I walked 2 miles every day instead, except for Wednesday (which is church night for my daughter) and Friday when we did some end of the week yoga. This weekend was a little thrown off due to the weather. My daughter and I had plans to go to the Dynamo (our MLS team in Houston) game but it was rained out. We would have gotten in most of our steps walking around the stadium. By the time we got home I was so frustrated by being in the car for an hour and half with pouring rain and terrible Houston drivers that we ended up at a Mexican restaurant and not eating very well. This week is packed with plans as well, so I'm just going to have to be super careful about what I eat since I wont be getting to exercise as much. I still am not sleeping very well but I'm chugging along!

In you busyness, look for ways to get in extra steps. On my busy days I really focus on that and usually can still get in my 10,000 steps. I might not get in all I hope to do in exercise, but it's not a total washout. I wish you much success as you look for the best ways to get to your goals on this journey. It's so different for each of us!
