Week 3: Getting the soil ready for the garden

A little bit more in the rhythm of things this week! Down 1.8 lbs this week, and over 46 lb less than when I started. How am I doing on my goals?

Weigh every day, not to focus on the number, but to practice mindfulness of the day to day changes of my body:
- Ding ding ding! Weighed every day, which show up as diamonds. The daily weight is a moment for me to realize that today is a new day to listen to my body - to listen for when it's actually hungry, when it's no longer hungry, and the different sorts of feedback it gives me after a meal. I try not to "see how I'm doing" weight-wise once a week, but a higher weight does tend to generate a larger emotional response, although it maybe just reflects a lot of sodium or not enough water the day before. Trendweight also reports the "trend weights" on the red line. The 235.4 you see out to the side is not my actual weight from this morning but a rolling average of the last few days. It's nice to see that even though the actual weights were all over the place this week, the red line is going in the right direction! 1-2 lbs/week is just fine with me. I don't log food or do any extra workouts yet - I'd like to see how far this "hands off" method gets me and then re-evaluate.

- You're reading it! I got some pretty serious gardening in this weekend. We have this dirt patch in the front yard, and it isn't really dirt at all - just straight clay. Over two days I managed to dig down and loosen up 18 inches below ground and work in 200 lbs of shale (to improve drainage) and 250 lbs of compost (to move towards making it actual soil). It's a tricky spot because it gets a lot of shade AND a lot of full afternoon sun, as well as being a spot where a lot of rain from the roof ends up. I planted some variegated ginger - we'll see how it turns out!

- Big improvement over last week. 6 days this week. I've also noticed that SP keeps track of your log-in "streaks". I'd like to get a good one going.
