First week of New challenge filled with challenges

Saturday, June 11, 2016

So Wednesday started the first week of the new Biggest Loser summer session challenge. I have been looking forward to it because the last challenge I only lost a little over 4 pounds. I had house guest stay with me so I was a little worried because they did not leave until Thursday. So Wednesday and Thursday morning I had to take my morning workouts outside so I was not able to do my normal indoor Zumba workout but I still managed to get a good walk in every morning and enjoy the outside before going to work, while my husband got to stay home and enjoy our house guest.

I also just found out Thursday that one of the medications the doctor has had me on prevents weight lose while the other was suppose to help me lose weight because of my blood sugar issues. So the two medications have been working against each other. That is why all of that working out and hardly losing any weight did not seemed to add up. Now maybe that they are trying to stabilze my hormones a little more I will be able to lose weight again like a normal person.

This time around I want to include my children in my journey. My daughter is struggling with binge eating. She does not purge but she binge eats. I am having to take her to a doctor to handle the triggers of her food addiction but I want to include her in my fitness journey this summer. So I want to include as much fun activities this summer as I can. I am taking off one day every week from work in the place of taking a summer vacation, that way we can have a fun day. Because I live close to a couple tourist locations I think we will spend our summers visiting water parks, amusement parks, aquariums, zoos, pools, etc, every week and burning calories on my work day off of work. Walking amusement parks and swimming is a lot of fun and burns lots of calories. Luckily we have season passes to a few places and membership to the Park and Rec Center with the City and they have 6 locations. So the kids have no excuse to sit down on my time off. I also signed each one of them for three weeks of summer camps so that they can canoe, swim, hike, They can't say did not have an active summer when they go back to school in the fall. I did the same thing last summer but sadly the sitter I had that watched the the other days did not even make them change out of their pJ's and I would come home from work and they had not even brushed their hair or their teeth at 5 p.m. Needless to say the only day they where active was the day they were with me. The sitter played on her phone and ate all day and my kids played video games. UGHH. Not this year. I refused to hire a teenager again. The sitter is 49. She will not let them sit and be lazy this year.

Glad you have a new sitter for the kids! I brought mine to daycare for just two half days and the girl handed my five year old an iPad to play with while there! I won't even let her near mine, kids don't need that!

Glad you are getting your medication figured out, I think they hand out pills like candy these days, I'm glad you looked into them and seen what wasn't working.

Sounds like a super fun time you have planned with the kids this summer! Nice outdoors active stuff. How old is your daughter now? Hope the doctor can help her out with what she needs as far as her binge eating. Puberty is so hard! So glad you are seeing things and acting on them as a nice concerned Mom!
