Food is not the problem. The issue is the way you use it against yourself.
Food has been a problem for a lot of us. We have used it to soothe our aches and pains, used to to comfort ourselves in times of stress, used it to cover up our insecurities at being overweight. We have hidden food, eaten in secret, gobbled things down, sometimes with great shame.
Why? Why have we used food for years, as a comfort, when it is nothing of the sort? Why do we continue to think of food, when something happens, when we are in a higher stress level? Do we not realize that we actually wear the food we eat every day? We are hiding NOTHING.
I think some of it stems from childhood. How many times did parents offer food as a prize? Be good and I will buy you something good to eat. Be good, and you will get a cookie. If you behave, I will buy you candy when you leave the store. It is ingrained in some of us, that food is a gift, a present, a prize for good behavior.
It is nothing of the sort. It is sustenance, and because of advertising, it has become something that we GET when we are good, bad or even indifferent.
To succeed at the weight loss game, the first step is to dump alluring and useless food from your life. To learn to love fresh food, to stop going to ANY fast food restaurants, to change the relationship we have with food. It is imperative that this happen, or weight loss success will never happen. If you lose weight, and do not change your relationship with food, you will not keep the weight off. If you do not get sugar, white food, salt, ANYTHING processed out of your life, you will not be able to be healthy late in life, and you will continue your addiction to those foods.
Food is not the problem, our relationship with food is the problem. Cut out one thing every week, until you are only buying things that you make, that are grown by Mother Nature, or that you are clearly able to understand the ingredients of.
You will be happier, healthier and THINNER!!
Spark on.
