End of season Potluck! Success!!
Tuesday, June 21, 2016
My Quilting group had an end of season Potluck dinner yesterday. These types of events can be a real disaster for me. With the food all laid out buffett style, so many options, and several desserts.
The Organizer sent several e-mails around to the group to make sure that we were going to be bringing enough assortment of foods, and the day before she sent a final e-mail with a list of what she knew was being brought.
It made it super easy for me to plan my evening. I ate lighter earlier in the day, and planned on taking small portions of everything that I wanted. And when I got there I stuck pretty closely to my plan, I had even calculated in having two pieces of dessert. one small brownie, and a thin slice of cake. the only thing I hadn't calculated in ahead of time was the punch they served, but I had been active that day, doing some yard work and had enough extra calories available that it balanced out pretty well. I also went home with some leftovers that I portioned up nicely, I got lunch and dinner today out of it, and enough left for lunch tomorrow as well.
It can be done! It's just a matter of making a plan and sticking to it. So YEAH ME!! I had a nice time, left pleasantly full, and proud of myself for planning ahead!
