I have discovered something wonderful!
My body actually WANTS to lose this excessive weight that I have packed on over the years!
The key, which is probably the hardest thing about weight loss (for me anyway), is to LISTEN to my body when it is telling me that it has had enough. If I follow that, which I have been for the most part (and getting better at it), then I lose weight AND feel satisfied! Who knew?!
I haven't been counting carbs so bring on the bread!
I haven't been counting calories so I have more time to use on other things, like working out if I want to or playing with my children, or blogging like I am now.
I haven't been counting points and I'm actually not renewing my weight watchers so I'm saving money!
And I have been LOSING!
Now, it was hard to shift my mindset because, well, let's be honest...I LOVE FOOD!
I love it all. I am not one to turn down food. Which is part what got me into this mess to begin with. I eat wayyyy too much of the stuff. But now, I can have all of that good stuff and still lose weight because I am learning the art of moderation that has so long eluded me and my food addiction. And let me tell you SparkPeople community...it is so FREEING!
I have been cutting my portions in about half, seeing how I feel, then if I want more I can always have more. Before I would pile it on my plate and just eat it because it is there. Now I will clean my plate but I don't pile as much on. That has been a big help coming from a family where everyone cleans their plates and feels as if you are wasting food if any is left behind.
It's a mind game for sure.
Let's keep up the good work everyone and remember, it is as much mindset as anything else. We don't have to eat all that is on our plates and we can always go back and nosh more if our body is wanting it. If not don't feel bad throwing it away. It can either be waste or end up on your waist if excess is consumed. Let's rewire our brains and succeed!
